YGO Arc V OC: Rima Tanaka

So Arc V has been out for over a year and I am totally in love with it, the Action Duels, characters and plot are engaging that I just had to create a character for it although its hilarious because Rima is my second Arc V oc and I haven't finished my first Arc V oc's biography yet XD I love Rima so much because she is so cute with her idealistic view of the world and just wants to make people happy, she also aspires to be an Entertainment Duelist. Here is her biography and within the next few days, I'll publish her sister Mizuki's biography.

Ace Card: Naturia Gaiastralio (Originally Naturia Leodrake until she learnt how to fusion summon and only uses Gaiastralio to win difficult duels)

Duel Disk: Standard white body with red blade

Personality: Rima is an optimistic person because she's quite satisfied with her life, although one of the things that upset her is how bad her relationship is with her sister Mizuki. She loves to participate in Action Duels as she aspires to become an Entertainment Duelist which is why she joined YSDS. However, she has problems with her acrobat skills because she is tiny with little to no muscle in her body, plus she eats a lot so she's too heavy to pull herself up. Eventually she is forced to go on a healthy eating diet and exercise more in order to improve her fitness, even going as far as asking Gongenzaka to help her stick to it. Rima is protective of her deck and gets annoyed when anybody disrespects her for using such a 'cutesy' deck but is too shy to come up with a retort. If Rima has a crush on the person she's dueling, she'll make stupid mistakes such as forgetting to activate certain cards or activating card effects too early. She also has a tendency to crush on most guys her age or slightly older if they are even decent looking or have a great personality or if something about them sticks out, most of the time these crushes are short lived before Rima moves onto her next target.

Clothes: Rima wears her main outfit for most activities but her second outfit, she typically wears for big Action Duels.

Romantic Interest: Either Dennis Macfield or Gongenzaka (depends on the plot of Arc V but I have some idea of how Rima's relationship would work with either of them)

History: Two years prior to the series, Rima's parents went to an orphanage to adopt a child after Sanae suffered a miscarriage a year before. While her parents wanted to adopt a young child, she wanted to have somebody older than her as she always dreamed of having an older sibling to protect her and teach her things that her parents couldn't. When her parents were distracted by the couple in charge of the orphanage, Rima wandered off and observed all of the inhabitants. Mizuki was the only person to catch her eye because she was sitting on the windowsill rearranging her deck. Mizuki managed to charm the pinkette with her impressive knowledge of Duel Monsters and even taught Rima a lullaby that she had never heard before. It was at that moment that Rima wanted to everything she could to make Mizuki her elder sister and persuaded her parents to adopt Mizuki. 

Rima initially became a fan of dueling after seeing Mizuki defeat someone in a duel and was inspired to follow in her sister's footsteps. However, a few months after her adoption, Mizuki refused to teach Rima how to duel because she thought that her sister was copying her and didn't want to train somebody who may later have the potential to surpass her. Rima was greatly hurt by this and wanted to throw her cards away as she thought that becoming a duelist would cause Mizuki to acknowledge her existence.

Before Rima could destroy her deck, her mother, Sanae, took her to see an Action Duel. Seeing how the duel made everybody smile (including Mizuki), Rima decided that she was going to one day make Mizuki smile with her own dueling. As a result of this goal, Rima later chose to attend 'You Show Duel School' because after she witnessed Yuya with his Entertainment Dueling, it reminded her of the time she watched her first Action Duel and she believed that by hanging around Yuya it would help her grow as a duelist.

The first person Rima dueled at You Show was Yuzu and she lost because Yuzu managed to overpower her from the very start, plus Rima didn't take it very seriously because she spent most of the duel joking around. Afterwards, Rima learnt that being an entertainment duelist isn't just about making people laugh, it involves giving your all to put on a good show and became a more serious duelist after this.

When Yuya is accused of assaulting Shingo, Rima believes that Yuya couldn't have done something like that and is surprised to see Yuzu doubting Yuya. During the LDS vs You Show, Rima wanted to battle but Sora volunteered before she could. While Hokuto and Yuya dueled, Hokuto's Xyz summoning reminded her of Mizuki's tactics and found the duel to be very informative. After Yuzu's duel with Masumi, Sora originally told Rima that she could duel Yaiba instead however she was afraid that Yaiba would be too rough in their duel and allowed Gongenzaka to avenge Yuzu like he wanted.

Rima joins the Maiami Championship like the rest of her classmates and during the second round, she is surprised to learn that she is dueling Mizuki. During their duel, Rima tries her own brand of entertainment dueling to make Mizuki smile but Mizuki is unable to take her seriously.

As a result of this, Rima finds herself annoyed at her sister's treatment and believes that she'll never be taken seriously unless she wins. She ends up locking down 2/3 of Mizuki's deck with Naturia Bamboo Shoot and displays her ablity to fusion summon. Mizuki finds herself losing control at the sight of the fusion monster and uses Harpie's Chaneller to Xyz summon Ice Beast Zerofyne before using its effect to negate Bamboo Shoot in order to activate her face-down Hysteric Party. Mizuki ends up defeating Rima with Harpie's Pet Phantasmal Dragon.

Initially Rima spends the rest of the tournament cheering on Mizuki but during the Battle Royale, she sneaks into the field because she is worried about her friends since the cameras shut off (during episode 46 when Shuzo, Tatsuya, Futoshi and Ayu tried to leave the stadium but the guard stopped them, Rima managed to run down the corridor and slid past him). At first she wondered why the cameras had been shut off considering everything seemed normal but as she wandered further in, she encountered a member of the Obelisk Force and ran away in fear. Eventually, Rima is cornered by them and has no choice but to duel them by herself until Mizuki appears along with Megumi (another competitor).

The three of them participated in a tag duel and manage to win after a long, difficult duel. It was during the duel that Rima learnt why Mizuki had gone from being loving to ice cold after being adopted, it turned out that Mizuki was from the Xyz Dimension and had managed to escape the battle. However, Mizuki didn't understand how she ended up in Standard and was afraid that at any moment the fusion dimension would hunt her down to turn her into a card and believed that if she isolated herself from Rima, then she wouldn't get hurt. Mizuki was only pleasant to Rima initially because Rima reminded her of her younger sister and while staying with the Tanaka's, she actually forgot about her origins in the Xyz Dimension. Rima attempts to find Yuya, Yuzu and Gongenzaka when the timer stops and everybody has to return to the stadium. Unlike how the crowd were hostile to Shingo and believed he cheated to get back into the tournament, Rima was welcomed warmly due to how she won everybody's admiration with her pleasant personality and quirky outfit.

Whilst Rima wasn't invited back into the tournament by Reiji like Shingo, she still became a Lancer as she proved that she was a strong duelist with the determination to protect her friends. After the Lancers got separated in the Synchro Dimension, Rima ended up with Gongenzaka and Dennis. She followed Dennis' lead and attempted to entertain the crowd by performing a few acro tricks that were fairly basic for her yet looked impressive enough to appease a small crowd. When Gongenzaka and Dennis dueled, she mainly cheered for Dennis which resulted in Gongenzaka getting mildly jealous that his friend was paying more attention to somebody she hadn't known for a long period of time. Rima joined the duo when Gallager got them to leave with him and was suspicious of his motives the entire time.

After getting arrested by Sector Security, she was put in confinement and separated from the others. When the other Lancers are escaping from the Facility, Rima gets broken out by Dennis and Serena. Like the rest of the Lancers, she too is forced to participate in the Friendship Cup.



Trivia:

Rima's summoning chants always refer to forests and/or the small rising up together to oppose the powerful (Mighty king, rampage forward to protect the peaceful inhabitants of the forest. Synchro summon! Level 10! A majestic uprising, Naturia Leodrake!)

(O creatures of the forest, gather together your strength so that you may call upon a greater force to vanquish all who threaten your way of life. Synchro summon! Level 6! Noble warrior of the earth! Goyo Guardian!)  

Her Naturia deck suits her perfectly because it reflects her childlike innocence and her playful nature.

The first time Rima saw Gongenzaka Synchro summon, she guilt tripped him after finding out that he got Yaiba to teach him instead of Rima and actually got Gongenzaka to cry for forgiveness XD

She prefers to wear skirts as to her, they are easier to move around in (when Rima was 7 she tried to perform the splits while wearing jeans and ripped her bottom in front of everybody which she found to be greatly embarrassing).

Evidently, Rima's favourite colour is pink and all of her clothes have some pink on them. 

Her most precious item is her Staryu hairclip and she always wears it to remind herself not to give up on her sister. The main reason behind that is when Mizuki first came to live with Rima's family, Mizuki tried to act like a big sister towards her and the first time they went to an arcade together, Mizuki won some tickets which she used to buy the hairclip as Rima had her eye on it.
